26 ROWGC members descended on the glorious Penina Hotel and Golf resort last week. 18 members attended the first trip with myself and Oli while 8 others flew out to meet Oli for the 2nd trip. This was the THSG's first ever teaching trip abroad and we certainly enjoyed the whole experience.
It was an action packed 1st week with teaching clinics in the morning covering all aspects of the game. Oli focused on his putting mantra, which is reading greens with Aimpoint, start line and pace. While i looked at both the long game and approach play. It was a fantastic learning environment with lots going on both on and off the course.

Penina where great hosts from start to finish, the hotel certainly didn't disappoint with everything you need from good restaurants and a happy hour everyday to drown out those bad shots hit out on the course!! Of course there weren't any of those as the members lapped up the teaching clinics and all showed improvement by the end of the holiday.
In the evenings we enjoyed the good food that Penina had to offer and of course took advantage of the happy hour drinks, we even had Red Shaw's birthday to celebrate on the first night!!

Between the two trips we played three times across the various courses at Penina in glorious sunshine, perfect temperatures to play great golf in!
All in all it was a fantastic trip and we are all very thankful of the members support. We will definitely make these trips annual for the club so make sure you keep an eye out for the 2017 dates.
